Lucid Trading just launched a $2 million trading competition, and true to its brand, the firm announced it before deciding how anyone actually wins it.
“$2 Million Dollars in cash prizes. How to win? TBD. At least we figured out the name,” Lucid posted on X when the contest launched. The event runs September 9 through September 30. Scoring criteria weren’t locked in at launch and have reportedly rotated since, meaning the highest P&L on the leaderboard isn’t necessarily what wins.
What We Actually Know
- Prize pool: $2 million in cash
- Dates: September 9 to September 30, 2026
- Scoring: Not fixed at launch, criteria have shifted during the event
- Vibe: Lucid’s own follow-up post called it the “$2 Million Dollar Trading Competition Based On Nothing In Particular Event”
That’s not a typo or us being cute. That’s Lucid’s actual framing of its own competition, mid-event.
Why This Matters
Free or low-cost trading competitions with big prize pools have become a real trend across the industry this year, Tradeify’s $1.3M Premier Trading League being the other major example running right now. What makes Lucid’s version different is the total lack of pretense about it. Most firms wrap these events in polished rules and leaderboard math before launch. Lucid launched first and figured out the mechanics in public, which is either refreshingly honest or a genuinely disorganized rollout, depending on how charitable you’re feeling.
If you’re planning to enter, that same lack of fixed rules cuts both ways. There’s real money on the table, but if scoring criteria can shift mid-competition, you can’t fully game a strategy around “just maximize P&L” the way you normally would in a trading contest.
Our Take
Lucid has a track record of fast, documented payouts on its regular funded accounts, so there’s no reason to assume the $2M prize pool itself isn’t real. The honest read here is that this competition was announced before it was fully designed, and Lucid isn’t hiding that. If you enter, go in expecting the rules to still be settling, check Lucid’s Discord or X for updates before assuming any strategy is optimal, and don’t treat the leaderboard as final until Lucid actually clarifies how winners get picked.
