The futures prop firm Funding Ticks is under heavy fire after implementing a series of drastic rule changes on December 17. Most controversially, these changes were applied retroactively, impacting traders who had already met their performance targets and were awaiting payouts.

The move has triggered a wave of “scam” allegations across social media, as traders report that their past profits were invalidated overnight based on rules that didn’t exist when the trades were placed.

The Key Rule Changes

The shift has transformed Funding Ticks from a flexible, “scalper-friendly” platform into one of the most restrictive in the industry. The primary changes include:

  • 1-Minute Minimum Hold Time: Previously, there was no minimum hold time, making the platform ideal for high-frequency scalpers. Now, any trade held for less than 60 seconds is disqualified from profit counts. For many, this turned profitable accounts into losing ones instantly.
  • Reduced Profit Splits: The firm’s signature 90% profit split has been cut to 80%.
  • Increased Payout Hurdles: Traders now need 6 profitable days to qualify for a withdrawal, up from 5. Additionally, the minimum daily profit requirement has been raised from $150 to $200.
  • Withdrawal Restrictions: New caps and reductions have been placed on payouts, significantly limiting how much capital traders can actually take home.

Impact on the Trading Community

The retroactive application has been the primary flashpoint. Traders report that the firm used the new one-minute rule to scan past trading history, deleting valid gains and, in some cases, causing accounts to fail evaluations that had already been “passed.”

While Funding Ticks is backed by the established team at Funding Pips, the sudden pivot has severely damaged their reputation. Industry experts warn that changing rules on active contracts is a “breach of trust” that could lead to a permanent exodus of talent from the platform.

I’ve been trading for over 5 years, mainly across Indian markets, futures, forex, crypto, and CFDs. Over the years, I’ve traded with a lot of different brokers and prop firms and spent a huge amount of time testing their rules, platforms, pricing, drawdown models, payout systems, and trading conditions.

I’ve been through plenty of failed prop firm challenges myself before eventually figuring out what works for me. That experience has given me a pretty practical understanding of what traders actually deal with when choosing a prop firm or trading platform.

Outside of trading, I work with financial content, SEO, and WordPress. I’ve built websites and tools around trading and finance, tested a wide range of trading tools, and even modified Pine Script indicators on TradingView as a hobby.

I write about prop firms, brokers, crypto platforms, and trading tools with a focus on the things that actually matter to traders, including rules, costs, payouts, and the overall trading experience.
