How to Find Your Perfect Prop Firm Challenge (Without Opening 50 Tabs)
Choosing a proprietary trading firm used to mean keeping a spreadsheet with 20 columns, reading endless FAQs, and still missing the fine print about “trailing drawdown.”
We built the Funded Truth Comparator to fix that.
Instead of generic reviews, our tool lets you place two specific challenges side-by-side to see exactly where they differ—from the price tag down to the hidden rules.
Here is a quick guide on how to use the tool to find the challenge that fits your trading style.
Step 1: Choose Your Contenders (The Brands)
First, select the two Prop Firms you are interested in ensuring you aren’t comparing apples to oranges.
- Select Brand 1: Pick a firm you know (e.g., FTMO).
- Select Brand 2: Pick a competitor you are curious about (e.g., My Funded Futures).
Step 2: Select the Specific Challenge
This is where our tool shines. Most sites just compare “Firms.” We compare Challenges.
- Once you pick a brand, the “Challenge” dropdown will unlock.
- Select the exact account size and type you want (e.g., “100k Swing Account” vs. “100k Normal Account”).
Pro Tip: Try comparing different challenges from the same firm. For example, compare a 1-Step Challenge vs. a 2-Step Challenge from the same company to see if the higher price of the 1-Step is worth the easier rules.
Step 3: Analyze the “Hidden” Attributes
Click the “Compare Challenges” button. A table will generate instantly. Don’t just look at the Price; look closer at these key rows:
- Drawdown Type: Is it Static (easier) or Trailing (harder)? This often justifies a price difference.
- Daily Loss: Does it calculate based on your Balance or your Equity?
- News Trading: If you are a news trader, check this row immediately. If one says “Prohibited,” you know to walk away.
Step 4: Look for the “Deep Dive” Link
Sometimes, a table isn’t enough. If our team has written a detailed head-to-head review of these specific firms, a banner will appear above the table saying “Related Article Available.” Click that to read our full breakdown of who pays out faster and whose support is better.
Quick Example Scenarios
The “Budget” Trader:
- Left Side: Select a premium firm (e.g., Topstep).
- Right Side: Select a budget firm.
- Look for: Check the Profit Target features. Is the budget firm cheaper because they force you to make 15% profit instead of 10%? The tool will show you.
The “Swing” Trader:
- Left Side: Select a standard account.
- Right Side: Select a “Swing” account.
- Look for: The Weekend Holding attribute. Ensure it says “Allowed” on the side you pick.
