Funded Futures Network changed how it treats high-frequency and short-duration trades. Breaking the old HFT rule used to fail the account or block a payout. Now it only removes that day’s profit from the short trades if they make up more than 30% of the day’s activity.
PropTraderz, which tracks official rule pages daily, logged the change on 24 October. Before the update, an HFT violation could end the account. After it, the account stays open and only the profit from the short-duration trades that day is stripped. The rest of the day’s P&L and the account itself stay intact.
CEO Ethan Warmuskerken addressed the issue directly on X while responding to a trader who said the firm had enforced an old HFT violation. He said he doesn’t like the HFT rule and that’s why they changed it. He also noted that accounts bought after 22 October don’t get closed for HFT under the new terms, and that the firm is automating rule checks so enforcement is more consistent going forward. This follows the firm’s recent launch of FFN Perps with 134 markets.
For traders who scalp or take quick trades, this is a meaningful shift. A cluster of sub-five-second or sub-minute trades no longer risks the whole account or a delayed payout. You can still lose the profit from those trades on a day when they dominate volume, but you keep the account and any other profits. Check the current rules page or support if you have an older account; the firm has said newer purchases follow the lighter standard.
Our Take: Softening a hard-fail rule into a profit adjustment is one of the cleaner changes a futures firm can make. It keeps the guardrail against pure HFT without the nuclear option of closing accounts over a few fast trades. The CEO’s public confirmation that he pushed the change because he disliked the old rule adds weight. Traders who live on quick entries should still watch the 30% threshold, but the downside is now limited to one day’s short-trade profit instead of the account itself.
