Topstep has put a $50,000 static evaluation on sale through Labs. Drop #006 is a one-time $149 Trading Combine. There is no monthly rebill, and Topstep says resets are not available.
The Labs page calls it limited availability and caps a trader at five of these accounts. Each Combine stays active for 90 days from purchase.
What the Combine actually asks for
- Buying power: $50,000
- Profit target: $4,000
- Max loss limit: $2,000 static, so the account has to stay above $48,000. Topstep says that floor does not move.
- Daily loss limit: $1,000, listed under Responsible Trading Advantage
- Consistency target to pass: 55%
- Size: 4 minis or 40 micros
- Express Funded Account activation: free
Pass the Combine and you pick an Express Funded path. Standard asks for five winning days of at least $150. Consistency asks you to stay inside a 40% consistency target. Both paths show an $8,000 payout cap on the Labs page.
This is the same idea as Drop #001, the $25K Static Combine, scaled up. Labs has also tested a $6K challenge. The firm still treats these as experiments, not as a replacement for the standard Combine on the Topstep lineup.
A static floor is the part traders usually want. On a trailing account, a green day can drag the floor up behind you. Here the Combine floor stays at $48,000, so profit adds room instead of tightening the rule. The tradeoff is on the page: no resets, a 90-day clock, and a hard daily loss limit of $1,000.
The Labs page does not say whether that static floor survives on the Express Funded Account after the first payout. If you care about that, read the funded-account terms before you buy. The $149 price is the experiment, not a promise that the funded rules match the Combine.
Our Take: For a trader who already likes Topstep and hates trailing drawdown on the evaluation, this is a clean, cheap test. It is not a new firm and it is not a looser funded account. You are paying once for a fixed $2,000 floor and a $4,000 target, then you are back on Topstep’s Express Funded paths, cap included.
