Take Profit Trader Rules Explained: Drawdown, Consistency, and No Daily Loss Limit

TakeProfitTrader runs a single 1-step evaluation (the Test) into a funded PRO account, across five sizes: $25K, $50K, $75K, $100K, and $150K. The rules below apply across every size unless noted.

No Daily Loss Limit

TakeProfitTrader doesn't use a daily loss limit at any stage - Test or PRO. The only thing that can end your account is the Maximum Trailing Drawdown itself.

Maximum Trailing Drawdown: EOD in the Test, Intraday in PRO

This is the single biggest mechanic to understand. During the Test, the drawdown is End-of-Day (EOD) trailing - it's calculated only once, at the close, based on your realized daily P&L. Intraday swings don't move it. Once you're funded on PRO, it switches to intraday trailing - it follows your peak balance in real time, including unrealized (open) gains, not just your closed daily total. Both types lock permanently once the drawdown level reaches your original starting balance - after that point, the account can't fail below breakeven.

SizeDrawdown AmountLocks At
$25,000$1,500$25,000 balance
$50,000$2,000$50,000 balance
$75,000$2,500$75,000 balance
$100,000$3,000$100,000 balance
$150,000$4,500$150,000 balance

Consistency Rule (Test Only)

Formula: your highest single profit day, divided by total net profit, must stay below 50%. This only applies during the Test - once you're funded on PRO, there's no consistency rule at all. Breaking it during the Test doesn't fail you outright: your required profit target is recalculated (new target = highest day x 2) and you keep trading toward the new number.

Minimum Trading Days

You need at least 3 trading days to pass the Test, even if you hit the profit target sooner - a trading day just requires placing one trade, win or lose.

No Counter Positions

You can't hold opposing (long and short) positions in the same or closely correlated products at the same time - whether within one account or across multiple accounts. This is TakeProfitTrader's hedging rule.

News Trading

Trading is restricted immediately before, during, and after major scheduled news events - FOMC statements, Non-Farm Payrolls, and CPI releases specifically named in the rules.

Trading Hours

All positions must close daily - no overnight or weekend holding on any account, Test or PRO.

PRO Account: Automated Trading & Activity Requirements

Once funded, trades must be manually executed - no trading bots or algorithmic systems are allowed on PRO. You also need to place at least one trade every calendar week (Sunday through Friday) to keep the account active; going a full week with no trades at all is treated as inactivity.

Billing & Resets

The Test is billed monthly and can be canceled anytime through your dashboard (effective at the end of the current billing period) - there's no long-term commitment. A failed Test can be reset for $100 rather than purchased fresh. Once funded, a breached PRO account can be reset up to 3 times for $100 each before you'd need a completely new Test.

The Path to PRO+

PRO+ isn't something you buy directly - it's an invite TakeProfitTrader extends to traders who show consistent, disciplined performance on PRO. PRO+ is a live account with no margin requirement, a 90/10 profit split (better than PRO's 80/20), no buffer requirement for withdrawals, and an EOD trailing drawdown instead of PRO's intraday version.

What We Don't Have Confirmed Yet

TakeProfitTrader's help center doesn't give a full tradable-instrument list with commissions in the articles we could access. We'd rather flag this than guess - let us know if you have that documentation.
