AJ Campanella is the founder and CEO of Lucid Trading, one of the fastest-growing futures prop firms to show up since 2025. He’s also one of the few prop firm CEOs who’s actually still visible day to day instead of hiding behind a support team.

A trader first, not a startup founder chasing a trend
Campanella isn’t a fintech guy who noticed prop firms were profitable and decided to build one. He’d been trading futures — mainly ES and NQ — for years before he ever launched a company. His X account, @ajtradinglucid, goes back to June 2020, well before Lucid existed, and it reads like a trader’s account, not a brand account bolted onto a CEO’s name after the fact.
That background shows up in how Lucid was built. By late 2024, the futures prop firm space was getting messy — activation fees that added up to nothing, payouts that took days, support that went quiet when something actually broke, rulebooks dense enough to need a lawyer. Campanella had seen all of it from the trader’s side. So when he launched Lucid Trading in early 2025 under Lucid Prop Ltd. (now operating as Lucid Trading Group LLC, registered in Delaware), the pitch was straightforward: one-time fees instead of subscriptions, end-of-day trailing drawdown instead of intraday breach rules, and payouts that actually process in minutes instead of days.
How fast Lucid grew
Lucid Trading scaled quickly for a firm that’s barely into its second year. It’s paid out hundreds of millions to traders, built a Discord community north of 58,000 members, and holds a Trustpilot rating in the high 4s across thousands of reviews. It now runs multiple program tiers — LucidFlex, LucidPro, LucidDirect, and the invite-only LucidLive and LucidMaxx tiers for traders who’ve already proven themselves. All of it stays focused on CME futures contracts (ES, NQ, YM, CL, GC) rather than spreading into forex or crypto CFDs, which keeps the rules simpler than a lot of multi-asset competitors.
The obvious caveat is that Lucid is young. A fast growth curve and a strong Trustpilot score are good signs, but they’re not the same thing as a decade of paying traders through different market conditions — something a firm like Topstep, at over a decade old, can point to that Lucid can’t yet.
Where he’s active online
Campanella runs Lucid’s Discord community directly — responding to traders, running town halls to explain company decisions, and getting into the harder conversations instead of routing everyone to a ticket queue. That kind of founder access is unusual in this industry, where most CEOs stay behind the brand.
On X (@ajtradinglucid), he posts as a trader who’s still in the markets, not just a company spokesperson. He’s also shown up on prop-firm-focused podcasts and livestreams — including a sit-down on Traders and Haters talking about misinformation on Trading Twitter, and a live interview with OnlyPropFirms discussing Lucid’s entry into futures funding.
If you want to actually follow what he’s building in real time, Discord and X are where that happens — not a static About page.
