Crypto perps prop firms are newer than futures firms, and their rules are less standard. Some give you a generous drawdown, some give you a tight one, and the marketing often looks the same. The profit to drawdown ratio cuts through that. It tells you how much profit you have to make compared with how much you’re allowed to lose, and it’s the fastest way to see how hard a challenge really is.

The same ratio can feel very different on a small account, because a few percent of drawdown is only a few hundred dollars. What the Profit to Drawdown Ratio Is
Divide the profit target by the total drawdown. Perps plans state both as percentages, so a 10% target with a 5% drawdown gives you a ratio of 2.00. The dollar version comes out identical, because both numbers grow with the account size. The tables show the percentages first and the dollar amounts underneath.
Lower is easier. A ratio near 1.00 means the target is about the same size as the drawdown. A ratio of 2.00 or higher means you need to make twice what you can afford to lose.
How to Choose
Pick the account size that matches the money you’re comfortable losing on the entry fee, then compare only inside that size. Take the lowest ratio that also has a drawdown type you understand. If the perps list is short for your size, that’s just where this market is right now, and it’s a good reason to read each plan page carefully instead of relying on the ratio alone.

Why the Ratio Matters More in Crypto
Crypto moves fast and often moves hard. A coin can drop several percent in minutes, and perpetual contracts let you use leverage, so a small move against you can eat a big part of your drawdown. When the drawdown is tight compared with the target, you’re pushed into taking bigger swings to finish the challenge, and that’s the exact setup that gets accounts closed.
A lower ratio gives you a bit of breathing room. You can trade smaller, take fewer trades, and still get to the target. It doesn’t make crypto less volatile, but it makes the rules less hostile to how crypto actually behaves.
Keep the limits in mind. The ratio doesn’t include daily loss limits, consistency rules, or how the drawdown is measured. Check those on the plan page before you buy.
