Leverage is one of the first things traders check when picking a prop firm, and one of the most misunderstood. A firm offering 1:100 doesn’t let you lose more money than one offering 1:30. Your daily loss limit and max drawdown stay exactly the same. What leverage changes is how much margin each position eats, and that decides how big you can go and how many trades you can hold at once. The table uses the best leverage across all stages of each plan. Some firms give you less leverage in the challenge and more once you’re funded, or the other way round, so open the plan page if the evaluation number is what matters to you.

Crypto perps firms work differently. Most don’t publish one headline number. They set leverage per coin, with Bitcoin and Ethereum getting the most and altcoins getting a lot less. So this table ranks perps plans by their crypto leverage, using the top number the firm allows.

Keep in mind that 100x on BTC often turns into 5x or 10x on smaller coins. If you mostly trade altcoins, the headline number tells you very little. Our crypto perps leverage ranking goes into that in more detail.
Leverage by Instrument
A high headline number doesn’t mean high leverage on what you trade. Plenty of firms give 1:100 on forex, then drop to 1:20 on indices, 1:10 or lower on gold and 1:5 on stocks. If you trade one market, go straight to the ranking for it:

What About Futures Prop Firms?
Futures firms don’t quote leverage at all. They cap how many contracts you can hold instead, split into minis and micros. We cover that separately in our ranking of futures prop firms that allow the most contracts, sorted by account size.
Does Higher Leverage Actually Help?
Less than most traders think. Say you’re on a $100K account with a 5% daily loss limit. That’s $5,000 you can lose in a day whether your leverage is 1:30 or 1:100. Leverage only decides whether the platform lets you open the position in the first place.
Where it does matter is margin. At 1:30, a $300,000 position needs $10,000 of margin. At 1:100 it needs $3,000. If you scalp with bigger size, hold several pairs together, or trade gold and indices where firms cut leverage hard, low leverage can block trades your risk plan would allow. That’s the real reason to care about it.
The flip side is that high leverage makes it easy to oversize. Very few traders fail a challenge because their leverage was too low.
Which High Leverage Prop Firm Should You Pick?
If you trade forex, most firms near the top of the CFD table give you more leverage than you’ll ever use, so pick on rules, drawdown and price instead. If you trade indices, gold or stocks, leverage becomes a real filter, because that’s where firms cut it, so check the instrument rankings before you buy. For crypto, look past the BTC number to what you get on the coins you actually trade. Leverage can change without much notice, so confirm it on the firm’s site before you pay.
