FTMO Futures Rules Explained: Consistency, Daily Loss Limits, and Growth vs Pro
FTMO Futures runs two evaluation tracks — Growth and Pro — both as monthly subscriptions rather than one-time fees. The core mechanics differ enough between them that it's worth understanding both before you pick one.
Trading Hours
The FTMO Futures trading day runs from 6:00 PM to 4:10 PM ET — not a standard midnight-to-midnight window. If your usual trading hours are built around a different reset time, check how this shifts your day-boundary calculations before you start.
Consistency Rule by Track
| Track | Consistency Rule | Applies To |
|---|---|---|
| Growth | 40% — best trading day can't exceed 40% of total profit | Evaluation only — no consistency rule once Sim-Funded |
| Pro | 50% — best trading day can't exceed 50% of total profit | Evaluation only — no consistency rule once Sim-Funded |
Pro's looser 50% threshold is one of its trade-offs against Growth's stricter 40% — easier to satisfy during the evaluation, but paired with a harsher Daily Loss Limit policy (see below).
Daily Loss Limit: Soft on Growth, Hard on Pro
This is the single biggest structural difference between the two tracks.
| Track | Evaluation DLL | Sim-Funded DLL | Breach Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | None | Fixed (scales by size) | Soft — open positions auto-close, account stays active, resumes next session |
| Pro | Fixed (scales by size) | Fixed (scales by size) | Hard — account ends immediately and permanently, no recovery |
Growth has no Daily Loss Limit at all during the evaluation — only the trailing drawdown applies. Pro applies its DLL from day one of the evaluation, and it's a hard breach at every stage. This is worth weighing carefully: Growth's forgiving DLL structure is arguably its biggest advantage over Pro, even though Pro compensates with better withdrawal terms (see the Payout page).
Billing & Resets
Both tracks are monthly subscriptions, not one-time purchases. Billing continues even after your account breaches — it does not cancel automatically. You have to actively cancel it yourself, or you'll keep being charged for an account you can no longer trade. If you want to retry after a breach, a separate reset fee applies (see each plan's pricing table) rather than a free restart.
Contract Limits Scale With Sim-Funded Profit
Once you're Sim-Funded, your maximum contract size isn't fixed — it increases in tiers as your account profit grows, on both Growth and Pro. Check each plan's page for the exact scaling table at your size, since the tiers and starting contract limits differ by account size.
Concurrent Accounts
You can run up to 3 concurrent Sim-Funded accounts at once, regardless of track or size.
What We Don't Have Confirmed Yet
FTMO Futures doesn't publish a dedicated rules FAQ the way some other firms do, so we don't have confirmed details yet on: hedging policy, prohibited trading strategies, tradable instrument list, news trading restrictions, or weekend/overnight holding specifics beyond what's noted on individual plan pages. We'd rather leave this section incomplete than guess — let us know if you have FTMO Futures' own documentation on these.
