Indices are where prop firm leverage drops off. A firm can advertise 1:100 and still give you only 1:20 on NAS100, which means the same margin buys you a much smaller position than you’d expect. If you trade NAS100, US30 or SPX500, the headline number on the sales page is the wrong one to look at. This page ranks CFD and crypto perps plans by the leverage they give on indices specifically. Futures firms aren’t included, because they cap contracts instead of quoting leverage.

How Much Index Leverage Do You Actually Need?
Work it out from your position size, not the other way round. Say one NAS100 lot on your platform is worth about $20,000 and you trade 5 of them. That’s $100,000 of exposure. At 1:20 it ties up $5,000 of margin. At 1:50 it’s $2,000. On a $100K account both are fine. On a $10K account, 1:20 already blocks that trade.
So low index leverage mostly hurts on small accounts, or when you like to hold NAS100 and US30 together. On larger accounts, the daily loss limit will stop you long before margin does.
Picking a Prop Firm for NAS100
If indices are your main market, filter by index leverage first and ignore the headline number. Then check the things that hurt index traders more than forex traders: news rules around US data releases, overnight and weekend holding, and the NAS100 spread at the US open.
