1:30 vs 1:100: When the Difference Matters
One standard lot of EURUSD is €100,000, roughly $110,000 of exposure. At 1:100 that needs about $1,100 of margin. At 1:30 it needs about $3,700. On a $100K account you can open more than 20 lots at 1:30 before margin becomes a problem, and your daily loss limit stops you long before that.
Where 1:30 starts to bite is on small accounts and stacked positions. On a $10K account at 1:30, two or three lots use up nearly all your margin. If you scalp with size or run several correlated pairs at once, that’s where the higher leverage firms earn their place.
Also check whether leverage drops on minors and exotics. Many firms give their full number on EURUSD and much less on pairs like USDTRY or USDZAR.
Choosing a High Leverage Forex Prop Firm
For most forex traders, leverage is a tiebreaker, not the deciding factor. Take the top few from the table for your challenge type, then compare drawdown, daily loss rules and price. If you trade gold or indices alongside FX, check those rankings too, because that’s where firms really differ: gold leverage and NAS100 leverage.
