PropFirmMatch Faces Affiliate Redirect Claims as Apex and Lucid End Partnerships

PropFirmMatch is facing public questions about how its site handles affiliate links after a trader posted video evidence of redirects that appear to fire without a direct click on a tracked offer. The comparison platform has said it is looking into the claims and will issue a full statement within 24 hours.

On 29 October, traderkane shared a short video showing what happens when someone clicks a firm profile page or the copy-code button on PropFirmMatch. The intended page opens in a new tab, but the original tab is sent through an affiliate URL for the firm. The video used My Funded Futures as the example and claimed the same pattern appears on most listed firms. The post noted that PropFirmMatch’s own affiliate terms ban forced cookies and similar tactics for partners.

Independent analysis of archived JavaScript from the site, covering captures from November 2025 through late October 2026, shows a function that does exactly this on the first click of the copy-code button or internal firm links per firm per day. The code opens the current page in a new tab and sets the original tab’s location to the stored affiliate URL. The behavior was still present in an archive from 24 October. By early 30 October the function had been changed to return false and do nothing.

PropFirmMatch replied on X early on 30 October: “Trust is at the heart of what we do. We’re looking into the questions raised and will share a full statement within 24 hours.”

Apex Trader Funding had already ended its affiliate relationship hours earlier, citing a review of referral tracking practices and its Affiliate Marketing Agreement. Later the same day Lucid Trading announced it had finished its own investigation into the cookie practices and ended the partnership, deprecating related links and codes. See our earlier coverage of the Apex decision for the full timeline on that exit.

This is not classic cookie stuffing, which typically sets tracking cookies with no user interaction at all. The mechanism here is closer to a forced redirect on an unrelated click. Whether that violates specific affiliate contracts is for each firm to decide. PropFirmMatch’s own terms for affiliates prohibit diverting referrals through hidden iframes or forced cookies.

For traders the immediate impact is limited. Challenge prices and discount codes do not change because of how the tracking works. The bigger issue is trust in comparison sites that position themselves as independent while relying on affiliate commissions for revenue. When large firms walk away over tracking compliance, it raises questions about whether every listed offer is being attributed the same way.

Our Take: Comparison platforms live or die on the perception that the data and the path to a firm are clean. A redirect that fires on a copy-code click or profile view, even if limited to once per firm per day, sits outside what most traders expect when they interact with an internal link. PropFirmMatch has promised a full statement. Until that lands, the practical advice is simple: if you want a specific firm, go to its own site or use a code you already have rather than relying on a comparison page that may route the original tab through tracking.

I’ve been trading for over 5 years, mainly across Indian markets, futures, forex, crypto, and CFDs. Over the years, I’ve traded with a lot of different brokers and prop firms and spent a huge amount of time testing their rules, platforms, pricing, drawdown models, payout systems, and trading conditions.

I’ve been through plenty of failed prop firm challenges myself before eventually figuring out what works for me. That experience has given me a pretty practical understanding of what traders actually deal with when choosing a prop firm or trading platform.

Outside of trading, I work with financial content, SEO, and WordPress. I’ve built websites and tools around trading and finance, tested a wide range of trading tools, and even modified Pine Script indicators on TradingView as a hobby.

I write about prop firms, brokers, crypto platforms, and trading tools with a focus on the things that actually matter to traders, including rules, costs, payouts, and the overall trading experience.
